Steve Farris — yep, Mr Mister's guitarist who helped bring us "Broken Wings" and all those silky 80s rock gems — got the absolute dream of getting to jam live alongside Eddie Van Halen at a Peavey-sponsored NAMM show! Can you imagine being one of two musicians representing Peavey at what is essentially guitar god headquarters? Both were on that same stage doing their thing, and apparently when the music started flowing they just launched into this incredible impromptu session covering both ZZ Top tracks AND Led Zeppelin classics — which brings us to my absolute favorite part of Farris's story. He told MusicRadar: "We're playing Led Zeppelin songs, and Eddie would imitate Jimmy Page... I mean, he had it down." And as someone who genuinely appreciates what made Page special (the acoustic work on *No Quarter*, the way he'd layer multiple guitars in the studio), that's a pretty high compliment coming from Van Halen. He wasn't just faking being Page — this is Eddiemastermindfully embodying everything brilliant about Jimmy, and I absolutely believe him!

It's moments like these where you realize how incredibly generous Eddie was even during all those years people loved to complain he'd gone soft on the guitar front after losing his left hand. A man who basically invented so much of what we consider "modern rock" just casually jamming with a fellow Peavey artist at NAMM, playing classic material, and doing it like nobody's business — this tells you everything there is about why Eddie was one of my favorite musicians in modern music history! 🎸
