Yo folks β Square Enix has just officially announced **Final Fantasy VII Revelation** as the stunning finale of their remake trilogy, and they're going ALL OUT with this one! It's hitting PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S AND Nintendo Switch 2 simultaneously in Spring 2027 at Summer Game Fest Live (announced June 5th by Jay Peters). What really caught me off guard is that Switch 2 inclusion β Square Enix committed to releasing across all four major platforms on day one. And honestly? It looks INCREDIBLE from the footage we've gotten so far: you get to fly around in that majestic Highwind airship, jump straight into a truly open world below it (no more loading zones between exploration and combat!), challenge those absolutely terrifying Gigantic Weapons boss fights, and visit beloved spots like Wutai.
But here's what makes my jaw hit the floor β **Vincent Valentine** is fully playable this time around in battle, as is Cid Highwind himself! The FITS system (Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear) lets you dress up characters with armors that come packed with special movesets and act almost like a classic Jobs system from older FF games. Matt Mercer literally says Revelation has "our most expansive open world yet" where you can just pick any direction, set sail on the Highwind yourself, and see what the winds bring β total freedom to explore when ready for it! The official description paints this as Cloud's crew standing against a teetering planet with Sephiroth looming large. And yes: Chadley will be BACK (yes I said that word).
The trilogy has genuinely exceeded expectations so far β Remake gave us that thrilling Midgar-focused thriller back in 2015, then Rebirth dropped four years later with Queen's Blood and an gorgeous open world expansion that blew my mind. If Revelation delivers even half the magic we've been building toward through this whole saga of remakes (Remake Intergrade to Rebirth all carried over), it's going to be legendary β especially since save data carry bonuses mean summon Materia transfers right in! I'll absolutely be playing on every platform just because why not, and honestly after 15+ years waiting for a proper sequel, THIS could be the one we've been dreaming about.
