I've been playing a lot of platformers lately but something about **Spiny & Chilly** really grabbed me โ€” it's one of those delightfully wacky games where the whole premise is just "you play as a penguin with a hedgehog on your head and together you're hunting for ice." Seriously, some other penguins have stolen all the world's ice blocks (forโ€ฆ reasons?), so Chilly has to team up with Spiny and explore this somewhat large open-ish world in search of them. They move together as if they were one character โ€” it feels cohesive rather than gimmicky!

This game was shown at BIG Conference where I saw a demo, and the developer was genuinely passionate about what they'd built (you can almost feel that love for their creations just radiating through). It's heavily inspired by collecting-focused classics like **Banjo-Kazooie** and **Super Mario 64**, which is always music to my ears. There are little puzzles scattered everywhere, secrets tucked away in odd corners, and tons of ice blocks waiting to be claimed โ€” the sense of satisfaction from finally climbing a tower or reaching that hard-to-grab piece was honestly pretty incredible on first try.

The world areas felt really interesting too (I spotted haunted harbors and floating islands just in my demo run) and there are some cool mechanics like bouncing off platforms, gravity shifts, and helpful items to grab along the way. The only small thing I noticed is that sometimes it feels a bit too spacious between regions โ€” could use maybe more visual landmarks so you don't get lost wandering across those large empty stretches โ€” but as an early demo this was incredibly promising for what's yet to come! **Currently in development, and already worth adding to your Steam wishlist** if collecting games are right up your alley.
