Star Wars Zero Company has officially announced its launch window โ€” and if you're anything like me and have been eagerly tracking Bit Reactor's XCOM-inspired tactical squad game since this was just their little side project back around July last year, the timing is absolutely perfect! The release date leaks ahead of Summer Game Fest make it crystal clear that a full official announcement is coming tomorrow during Geoff Keighley's broadcast at Gamescom in Cologne (August 6-10), with Zero Company launching its XCOM-ish star warring adventure just months from now. What makes this even more exciting to me personally โ€” having watched Bit Reactor pour their passion into building something genuinely unique by adding new gameplay features and polishing the core mechanics over time as a side project rather than rushing it out, is that we're getting both confirmation AND momentum on two fronts right before Summer Game Fest hits us with all our Star Wars content. I've been absolutely obsessed since Bit Reactor first revealed this XCOM-meets-Star-Wars concept last year: managing small squads of clone troopers across beautiful tactical maps while the larger Clone War unfolds around you is such a brilliant hook, and knowing that their patient approach paid off by keeping it as an organic side project rather than letting scope creep kill their creative vision tells me everything I need to know about what kind of polished experience we're getting.
