Someone at KORG just released a firmware update for the logue T1 and T3 portable synthesizers that is going to change everything about how people use these boards, and I cannot stop thinking about it. If you already own one of these compact 49-key instruments with built-in speakers and dual screens — which are EBTN displays so naturally sluggish — then this update should make your experience a night and day difference. The most important fix is that aftertouch is now playable on every single knob, not just in specific sections as it was before; think about how many synth patches already rely on aftertouch for subtle modulation, and now they're fully expressive across the board! That alone makes the logue's synthesizer engine more capable than some of its larger competitors.
There is also so much under-the-hood improvement packed into this v1.05 firmware release that you will not believe how comprehensive it is. The notoriously slow EBTN display gets a refresh fix, making it actually usable for real-time editing instead of the frustrating stutter it suffered from before. Patch names now go up to 16 characters — great for organizing large preset collections — and they added an entirely fresh selection of factory sounds under the new 'Logue' preset category. Even better, you can save much larger synth project files in the editor without hitting the previous size cap on presets! The logue was already a fantastic portable synth to begin with, but this firmware update gives it several essential upgrades that make it one of KORG's best portable instruments by far.
