You guys need to hear about this game because it is absolutely unhinged in the best possible way, and I keep thinking back to those Lovecraftian stories we used to talk about on here. The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is a co-op horror title where you're fighting something literally incomprehensible under London โ€” think cosmic horror rather than cheap jump scares. They set it in 1940s London overrun by an alien presence, so everyone wears gas masks and the vibe is pure oppressive dread from frame one. It actually works because instead of just chasing ghosts around a dark building you're scavenging for resources across the city to build defenses before waves hit. And those enemies are genuinely designed โ€” each type has unique abilities like militia with shock weapons or shamblers that charge through armor, and you have to use specific tactics against them rather than button mashing your way out.

The co-op is where it really shines because the game demands communication between players, whether it's sharing ammo in a desperate fight or warning each other about enemies behind cover. It supports up to 14 people online and has four-player multiplayer modes too which makes group sessions incredible. The sense of isolation you get when your teammates go down is genuinely unsettling because every player matters for survival โ€” that was the whole point of this horror design choice.
