They just rolled out a decluttered Search menu to Insiders on the Experimental channel, and it removes every one of those annoying tiles we've been complaining about. The new home screen displays only your recent searches instead of game recommendations, trending searches, daily quizzes, and that "image of the day" tile. Even web results are getting fixed — they show you the most relevant answer first rather than a wall of related products and promotions. Plus, each result gets clearer metadata with an actual file preview in the pane so you know exactly what you're opening before you click it.
The real win though is how it changes priorities for local work. Windows will now favor results from your own files, apps, and settings over web suggestions which should mean less navigating through Bing bloat to find a simple system setting. And here is the thing I was waiting for — you can actually turn off both web AND Store recommendations entirely in the Settings menu now. That's one major win for anyone who wants their OS to stop trying to sell them stuff while they're just searching for a file!
