Anthropic is expanding Claude Cowork way beyond desktop on Tuesday and you all need to pay attention! It was previously gated behind macOS/Windows apps but now mobile users on iOS AND Android can actually use it, which Anthropic notes still keeps "full experience" features like local file access on the desktop version though. They are rolling this out first for Max subscribers before opening it up to other plans over the coming weeks. This is huge because Cowork sessions now run in the cloud by default so you can keep tasks moving across devices — and yes, that means they keep running even when your laptop is shut.

And the backend improvements alone deserve a dedicated thread! Scheduled tasks will continue regardless of whether any device is online right now. Plus Anthropic added mobile notifications so your phone pings you whenever something's ready for review or approval instead of leaving it hanging in a background tab forever. To sweeten the deal they doubled Cowork usage limits through August 5th, which I would personally already hit if I were on the Max plan by now. This is exactly the kind of platform expansion we want to see.
