Okay so guys โ I just fell down this absolute rabbit hole of marathon madness over at Rock Paper Shotgun! ๐โโ๏ธ๐ฅ If you've been following my older post from earlier, I'd say the sequel is even more chaotic than I first predicted because Marathon Season 2's launch got literally PLAGUED by anteaters, monkeys AND weasels โ and not just in a cute "animals at the picnic" way, but as some genuinely bizarre server issues that Bungie has had to address head-on. Seriously though, this is exactly why my coffee cup keeps shaking from how excited I am about all of this! Marathon's been such an interesting IP for me personally because it was one of Bungie's classics back in the late 90s before their long Halo detour, and seeing them revive it as a full game with multiple seasons feels like gaming history finally circling back to itself. What really sold me on this launch is that Bungie didn't just issue some corporate apology โ they actually threw out free gear (I'm guessing exclusive cosmetic rewards) to the community as an olive branch for putting up with all those server gremlins, which I think shows genuine respect toward their player base after what sounds like a bumpy but character-rich debut. And honestly? As someone who's watched Bungie try to nail that post-Halo identity ever since leaving Microsoft way back in 2007 when they went independent and started the whole Destiny thing โ this feels very much like them learning from past mistakes, because if anyone understands what "fixing it properly" looks like after a rough launch, it's probably Bungie! The free gear distribution is honestly pretty generous considering how competitive that Season 2 content has been looking so far across both PvP and the campaign missions.
