You guys โ€” two more retro arcade collections are coming to Switch, PS5, and PC! Gravity Game Arise is releasing Jaleco Arcade Collection Vol.1 and Vol.2 this winter, with 32 classic titles in total from the '80s and '90s. Each collection packs 16 games into one package, so that's a huge win for retro fans who want to play these on modern hardware. They also added rewind, save states (including multi-save slots!), custom remapping of all buttons, and even rapid-fire settings โ€” which is exactly what you need when playing old arcade ports at home. And get this: the Steam version lets you choose between Japanese and overseas versions for every title! That kind of attention to detail is rare in these collections, and it's going to make a huge difference.

Vol.1 features 16 games each with their own distinct flavor. City Connection has Clarice driving around fighting off police with oil cans; Aeroboto lets you switch between robot and plane modes while managing fuel strategically; Field Combat is an endless shooter where you capture enemy units and add them to your squad! Pig's & Bomber's combines bombing pigs under a countdown, P-47: The Freedom Fighter gives you 1940s arcade dogfighting action, and Saint Dragon lets you control a giant space dragon that actually uses its massive body as cover against enemy fire. Then we have Shingen Samurai-Fighter โ€” an epic duel between Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin with elemental powerups; The Astyanax where the hero wields a gigantic axe to battle demon forces; Cybattler's robot combat in space; Naughty Boy which is about setting fire to a monster forest while placing flags. Every one of these had its own arcade reputation, and I can't wait to play them all again!

Vol.2 brings another 16 titles with just as much variety. Exerion uses inertia-based physics for space shooting; Argus splits weapons between ground and air targets plus a landing mini-game at the end of each stage; Earth Defense Force (E.D.F.) features the XA-1 fighter evolving its weaponry as you defeat enemies, with different formation options to call in assistance! Makai Densetsu is an adventure game with shops and items rather than just shooting, Iga Ninjutsu Den gives you ninja arts that unlock over time, Plus Alpha lets your ship morph into three types during battle, Pop Flamer pits a mouse wielding a flamethrower against monsters (watch your fuel!), Rod Land features two siblings fighting with magic wands to rescue their mother โ€” the wand-slam mechanic is pure arcade satisfaction. Then there's Soldam which is a colorful Reversi puzzle with 2-player mode; and Avenging Spirit where you possess enemy bodies after dying! Plus, the store page notes that "other titles" will be announced later, so this might just be the beginning of an even bigger collection.
