You guys need to read this BBC report because what's happening in San Juan right now is devastating on a level I can't even describe. The earthquake has left families wandering through Barrio Los Abuelos trying to identify loved ones at a makeshift morgue that shouldn't exist. There are 35-40 bodies stored in refrigerated shipping containers and trucks because the hospitals are completely overwhelmed — this isn't supposed to be how people say goodbye, and it breaks my heart reading about it. The death toll is already around 187 with over 600 injured, and officials have declared a state of emergency as they try to get help to the hardest-hit areas.

I can only imagine what these families are going through — walking between shipping containers just hoping one holds their relative's remains is something no one should experience. The scale of it is immense; San Juan is recovering from Hurricane Maria, and this quake has stacked another crisis on top of an already shattered infrastructure. I keep thinking about the people who lost everything in 2017 only to have this happen again — it feels like a nightmare that keeps repeating itself for Puerto Rico. If anyone can donate or help any relief organizations get supplies out there, do it now because the situation is desperate and more aid is needed every hour.
