Hey everyone โ check this out because Marvel's Wolverine by Insomniac Games is shaping up to be one hell of a PS5 exclusive launching September 16th (I know some sources are showing September 2026 as the official window, but IGN's latest piece confirms we're getting it in full swing). Here's where I was skeptical and now think I'm wrong: Insomniac built this thing from day one to be a genuinely brutal experience. We're talking adamantium claws absolutely tearing people apart in rage-fueled melee combat โ Logan takes actual *body damage* throughout the game, his flesh literally tears open so you can see that adamantium-laced skeleton underneath it all. That was always Wolverine's whole vibe: pure unfiltered carnage and blood spraying everywhere as he dismembers opponents with devastating intensity.
But here is where I'm genuinely impressed by what they've done โ if gore isn't your thing, there are actual *gore options* you can toggle in the settings that let you dial back or censor all of it! This means Marvel's Wolverine actually caters to both audiences: hardcore fans who want every single tear of muscle and splash of blood on screen alongside players (like me sometimes) who love watching Logan absolutely rip things apart without needing a full-on splatter experience. What I think is really cool about this approach from Insomniac Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment is they didn't just slap "blood: off" onto the menu โ it feels like thoughtful, player-first QoL that respects both what the game was built around (brutal visceral combat) while acknowledging not everyone wants a gory experience 100%. The fact this PS5 Pro Enhanced title supports those options and delivers on the visual side makes me feel confident I'm picking up an excellent package for my own console.
This is actually one of Insomniac's bigger releases recently โ they just did that Spider-Man Remastered/2 remake combo, but Wolverine feels like something distinct because this whole visceral gore approach has been baked into their design from the start rather than retrofitted as eye candy post-launch. We caught earlier news about Sonic Racing CrossWorlds and Capcom dropping Yasmine in Street Fighter 6's DLC lineup over at Summer-of-Gaming events too (check my other posts for those if you're catching up on all these reveals), but Wolverine feels especially exciting because they've nailed the core identity AND given it solid polish across regions โ I saw this feature rolling out simultaneously to French, German, Dutch and even Greek IGN markets in recent days.
