You guys have got to read about dBrand getting absolutely destroyed by Valve, because it is one of the most embarrassing corporate meltdowns in recent gaming news. DBrand has built half its reputation on being the company that told Nintendo's lawyers to "go fuck themselves" and kept backup PS5 plates ready when Sony threatened legal action over their previous designs — they have been trolling IP owners for years. Then came the Portal-themed Companion Cube shell for Steam Machines, which Valve obviously had no patience for at all. They sent a letter on June 29th, dBrand folded immediately, and cancelled every single unit before it could ship wide.

What makes this comedy gold is how fast they went from aggressive to humbled — CEO Adam Ijaz told The Verge "There is no further plan. We fucked this one up" and committed to destroying every manufactured cube instead of letting people keep them. And since a pyrotechnic destruction would be thematically fitting, he even said they can't throw them in an incinerator for theatrically-appropriate fun!
