You guys — another Switch 2 edition is confirmed and I am genuinely pumped! Aniplex just dropped a new trailer showing The Hinokami Chronicles 2 running on the new hybrid, and it looks stunning. This version officially launches in Japan on October 29, 2026, with both digital and physical editions coming to shelves. There's an upgrade pack for original Switch owners too — no pricing details yet but we will get them eventually! It is so cool to see this land on the new platform since it was always meant for "the Nintendo Switch family of systems."
The roster news alone makes this a must-play, and I cannot get over how much they added. Over 40 playable characters now — that includes Muichiro Tokito AND Mitsuri Kanroji fighting as Hashira in arena mode! Every single character from the first game returns too, including post-launch free updates and even the Entertainment District DLC cast. Story Mode picks up right where the last one stopped so you get to relive all of Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training arcs again. I am already planning my VS night around these additions — this is exactly what anime fighting games should do!
