You guys need this story in your head because it’s absolutely incredible and I can barely process it. Two boys were trapped under rubble for at least 72 hours after a magnitude-5 earthquake hit Sucre state on December 12 and survived by calling out from below the debris until rescue crews found them. The first boy was pulled out Tuesday morning around 4:00 AM when people heard him shouting and started digging with whatever they had β€” I can't even imagine what he went through alone underground for that long. Then his younger brother was also located and both boys are alive now, which is honestly the kind of miracle you don't see every day because it really shouldn't have been possible given how much time passed and their situation.

Rescue operations were hampered by collapsed buildings blocking roads across Sucre making emergency services unable to reach many areas β€” ambulances had trouble even getting to nearby hospitals while crews worked through nights with hand tools for three days straight. The BBC reported 33 people rescued in total from the quake zone, a number that's actually high given how damaged infrastructure was and communication lines were nearly down throughout the region. Both boys were taken to a local hospital immediately after being freed and are recovering now β€” I can’t think of anything else for this than pure miracle because survival stories like this belong in a different category entirely.
