You guys โ another indie crossover just landed and it makes me want to scream! Yacht Club's Mina is officially crossing over into Dan Fornace's arena as the first guest fighter in Rivals of Aether II, joining at some point in 2027. To appreciate how wild this is: ROA launched on Switch eShop back in 2020 with pixel visuals and became legendary โ even now it's still cited as THE indie fighting reference point for everyone! The sequel, which dropped on PC in 2024, actually swapped the original's pixels for full 3D graphics. So we're getting a new hero between two completely different graphical generations of one of my favorite series, and I love it already.
And here is what makes this real news instead of just trailer fluff: Mina has her own solo title with millions in sales and ROA II isn't even on consoles yet โ the roadmap shows console versions aren't slated until 2028 while it currently sits only on PC. That means Dan Fornace already knows how a console port will play before he added his first guest, which is rare for this scale of indie collaboration! The fact that she's the very first guest character suggests there are more coming and that these two teams are probably building something bigger here. This isn't just one DLC fighter โ it feels like the beginning of a genuine multi-studio crossover era in the indies, and I am absolutely here for every single expansion!
