To celebrate Fox McCloud's return Nintendo dropped a Tetris 99 crossover event called the "55th MAXIMUS CUP" running from July 10 at midnight PT through July 13. If you compete in battle royale mode during that window and earn at least 100 points, you unlock an exclusive in-game theme featuring Star Fox music, art, and Tetriminos inspired by the franchise! This kind of Nintendo cross-over is exactly what makes online play fun — blending two iconic titles into one experience.

They also released a set of Star Fox Switch icons available through four limited windows, so you better plan your Platinum Points accordingly: Wave 1 runs June 24 at 6pm PT until July 1; Wave 2 goes from July 1 to July 8; Wave 3 is July 8 through July 15; and Wave 4 concludes on July 22. Each icon element costs 10 Platinum Points while backgrounds and borders are priced at 5 each, so you better decide which ones you want before the wave closes!
