Hey partners, grab a hold of your cowboy hats โ there's some genuinely fantastic news for all of us who grew up with those Toy Story games and have been wondering when we'd finally get them on our Switch machines! To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pixar's landmark franchise (which hit earlier this year back in late September), Digital Eclipse announced two major releases coming to both Switch 1 and Switch 2, launching October 15th with pre-orders opening today: a nostalgic Retro Roundup compilation and a gorgeous new remake that'll have us all crying like Woody watching Andy go to college.
The *Toy Story: Retro Roundup* is the one for those of you who miss the days when your PlayStation was still collecting dust in another room โ it bundles together five beloved titles from across generations (*original Toy Story*, *Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue*, *Star Command*, *Racer*, and even A Bug's Life on N64) into a single, beautiful package with behind-the-scenes footage about how each game came to life. They've added some really thoughtful modern touches as well: rewind gameplay so you can retry tricky sections without starting over, save and load at any moment (seriously โ pick up exactly where you left off), Rex's cheat codes that instantly unlock characters/levels/bonus modes including invincibility and unlimited lives, plus a Practice Mode with guided playthroughs for anyone who wasn't around in 1995 to learn how these games work. You can also toggle between upgraded high-resolution visuals or switch back to the original PS-era presentation if you want that dusty CRT nostalgia fix โ I'm personally going both ways depending on my mood!
Meanwhile, *Toy Story 3 Complete Edition* is a full modern remake of that beloved 2010 tie-in game (we all remember this one!), running up to 4K and 60fps on Switch 2 with the whole Woody/Buzz/Jessie adventure from Andy's Room to Sunnyside Daycare. What I'm particularly excited about is how they've made character swapping actually useful now โ each hero has distinct abilities you can swap between mid-action in dynamic co-op that lets a friend join right alongside you (no controller-hogging), and the Toy Box Mode alone sounds like a blast: it transforms into this Wild West town inspired by Woody's Roundup where you explore open-ended, take on missions for rewards, unlock fresh content โ all accessible enough that little kids could enjoy it but with depth that'll still have longtime fans grinning. Both games are available digitally separately, or grab the physical collection box containing all six titles in one gorgeous package (pre-orders go live TODAY if memory serves). October 15th can't come fast enough!
