You guys need to see this because I'm about ready to lose my mind over it β KPop Demon Hunters is getting its own Lego set! Netflix's biggest film ever (and yes, Academy Award winner in case anyone lost track) just secured humanity's greatest accolade by scoring a partnership with Lego. This isn't a one-off either; the brand said this initial release will likely be followed by many more, which makes perfect sense given how every single tie-in product for this movie has been flying off store shelves since it dropped. I can already picture my living room shelf dominated by Kpop merchandise and honestly that is exactly where I want to be today β surrounded by Jinu's greatness.
The set features Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird, which are actually based on the beautiful Kkachi horangi style of satirical Korean folk art with magpies and tigers. There's a six-eyed magpie perched proudly right on top of Deruaderp's head, plus you get flowerpots and tiny friendship notes that can sit in his mouth if you choose to stick it out β which is the kind of detail I live for. Even better: Lego made Derpy's entire head hollow so you can pop off the back panel when playtime ends and store all the extra pieces inside instead of losing them under a couch cushion, which is brilliant design thinking for what this will be displayed on shelves by younger fans. My favorite part though might be that the official website actually had to add a note clarifying that Derp isn't evil because apparently people needed reassurance β hilarious! Pre-orders officially open today at $70 with shipping starting August 1, so get yours before it sells out like everything else from this franchise and read Daniel Cooperβs original June 17 review over at Engadget if you want the full deep dive.
