You guys need to hear about what Nintendo just shipped because it is actually a massive win for original Switch owners! They dropped system updates for both the Switch and Switch 2, but while the Switch 2 patch isn't a huge deal, the Switch update completely revamps the eShop — good news: it's no longer browser-based. It was converted into a native app, which is why Daniel Vuckovic from Vooks is already geeking out over how ridiculously fast scrolling through Current Offers has become compared to the old jank. The new design also went dark, and if you have Basic Dark selected on your homepage it rolls in automatically, which honestly looks great instead of that cluttered mobile-browser layout we've been stuck with for years.

But there's more worth talking about because this isn't just a facelift — Nintendo is clearly trying to scrub the 'eSlop' problem. The eShop still hosts mountains of cheap titles using AI key art and copycat marketing, which has only gotten worse as those scammy devs automate their listings, but Vook64 points out that Nintendo seems more aggressive about purging this crap on Switch 2 already. It makes me wonder why the original console is left to suffer through it while the new one gets protection; I'm hoping another patch cleans up some of these blatant imitators soon rather than later.
