This one's been bugging me since I first posted it, and honestly โ my old post wasn't doing justice to how bad this actually is. Don't Nod has only five months of runway left before they run completely out of cash in November 2026. This isn't new news; the studio already warned back in December 2023 that they were looking at running empty by year-end, and now it's been confirmed as a real deadline โ not just something to worry about later. They need fresh investment before this winter or the whole thing folds, which means everything we love about Life is Strange could be tied to one of the hardest financial gambles in recent indie history.
The reason this is hitting so hard is what's already locked and loaded on their release calendar. Their new title "Lost Records: Bloom and Rage" has a February 18, 2025 launch date across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S โ which means the game will likely be out in months while its making studio dissolves behind it. And we can finally stop speculating about Tencent's involvement; TMTPost reported on December 8 that Tencent actually pulled its funding mid-December last year. So what was a rumor is now confirmed, and the deadline just became real. If no new money lands by November, Don't Nod may not make it to February, let alone past this month โ and I really don't want to see another great studio go under like this.
