So here's something absolutely fascinating — over at Nintendo Life today (thanks Jim Norman for breaking it down!), they've discovered that ESRB has actually added a completely fresh listing *specifically* dedicated to Minecraft running natively on Switch 2, which is genuinely surprising since the game already works perfectly fine through backwards compatibility! What makes this so interesting: even though the rating itself reads exactly like every other version (E10+ for fantasy violence and in-game purchases), having a totally separate listing — distinct from both PS5 and Xbox Series versions — really does suggest something more meaningful is coming than just a simple patch. I have to say, when you put this together with all of the chaos that unfolded during last weekend's Minecraft Live event (which announced new mobs like Pick me by Jim Norman himself—how cute), fresh biomes, an announcement for Dungeons II, and even revealed another gorgeous look at *Minecraft 2* in development simultaneously...the timing just makes so much sense.
Now here's where I need to temper expectations a bit: as Nintendo Life points out (with that helpful heads up from Nintendo Everything who flagged it first), the rating could be nothing more than Mojang setting their digital housekeeping — they wouldn't necessarily *need* an entirely new ESRB page if this is just an updated version of existing Minecraft. However, when I consider what a proper Switch 2 native port might mean for us fans...a visual bump with better textures and lighting would absolutely transform the experience on that gorgeous OLED screen, not to mention mouse support becoming viable again after years in mobile purgatory! Given everything else they've been working on across their slate of games right now (the round-up piece has all the details), I'm genuinely excited even if nothing is officially confirmed yet. What do you folks think — are we looking at a full Switch 2 Edition, or just an Easter egg?
