Yo teamโ€”you've probably seen those vague teaser videos floating around, but Frontier has finally confirmed that a THIRD "Planet" game IS coming! This isn't Planet Zoo 2 or Planet Coaster; it's an entirely fresh setting with its own new mechanics and visual identity โ€” which is awesome because the last two titles were already massive. The studio launched Planet Coaster in 2017 (PS5/Xbox Series X|S edition) and Planet Zoo in 2019, each of which became a huge success and received endless DLC packs over years. This new title still doesn't have an official name yet, but the trailer reveals things like dynamically rendered roads between multiple locations and unique building styles for every region โ€” meaning you won't be stuck designing identical parks everywhere!

The gameplay showcase at Gamescom 2024 showed off a massive map with diverse biomes, separate enclosures for different animal species (not one giant menagerie), and even real-time pathfinding that determines how guests move through the park. We saw vehicles โ€” trams crossing between zones, an aerial cable car winding over trees โ€” all rendered in Frontier's trademark stylized art direction. The trailers already hint at a huge scale: three teaser videos were released back in 2013 during early announcement and one live gameplay trailer was shown more recently, building real momentum for what will be their third simulation franchise from the studio that created both Coaster and Zoo.

Based on how Frontier treated its previous titles, expect this to get heavy post-launch support too โ€” Planet Zoo alone has over 50 assets across five expansion packs, and Planet Coaster has dozens of sets and expansions. The latest trailer shows three different cities already in development, so the team is clearly building out a wide world before release rather than just shipping one small map. They haven't given a firm launch date yet but have stated that 2025 will be "an exciting year for Frontier," which is as close to a release window as we're getting.
