Yo teamโyou have no idea how long I've been waiting to write this post! Muramasa: Revenant Blades is coming to PC as a full expanded 4K edition, not just some basic port of the old PS2/PSP title. The original 2017 version was already an enhanced remake with new cinematic cutscenes and reshuffled story beats, so we're getting the definitive edition right out of the gate. Vanillaware games are known for having some of the most stunning hand-painted art direction in gaming history and this is one of those titles that actually demands a high-resolution display to appreciate fully!
The studio behind it is Murata Software who handled the port from their Japanese releases, which means we're getting more than just a wrapper โ this is an actual remake with native PC controls and full text translation. Bandai Namco published the original in Japan as Muramasa Blade no Ichigeki so fans of those versions should know it retains all that DNA while being rebuilt for modern hardware. The expanded edition already had exclusive cutscenes added specifically to expand on the story, which makes this feel like a huge win rather than just another re-release.
I'm especially hyped about the 4K native resolution and uncapped framerates because Vanillaware's frame-by-frame animation would look insane at high refresh rates. It also includes a redesigned UI that actually works with a mouse instead of a controller, which is a huge quality-of-life improvement over retro ports. For anyone who hasn't played Muramasa I can only say the voice acting and script are absolutely top-tier โ this game has been sitting on my wishlist since 2015!
