YOU GUYS โ I was thinking more about these kinds of endings and realized there's an even better story to add here, because some games DON'T do this at all! While FF7 Revelation locks you down to one ending despite branching paths elsewhere, Yakuza 8 went in a completely different direction with five distinct endings. You get multiple true routes depending on your dialogue choices, and the game actually gives you the freedom to land on any of them โ not just one preordained conclusion. This is the real difference between "illusion of choice" design and genuinely branching narratives, and it's something I think more JRPGs should adopt!
