Chicago post-rock pioneers Tortoise have officially announced their U.S. and Canada tour dates! According to Pitchfork's Hattie Lindert (https://pitchfork.com/news/tortoise-to-tour-us-and-canada/), this is big news for anyone who follows the genre β€” we're talking stops in Los Angeles, MontrΓ©al, Boston, plus more cities coming over the next few months. For those unfamiliar with Tortoise: they've been one of the most distinctive and influential acts to come out of Chicago's post-rock scene since their early '90s days, blending ambient textures, electronic rhythms, and jazz-inflected instrumentation into something truly unique that still sounds like nobody else can replicate it. What I'm especially excited about is how they keep evolving while staying true to their sound β€” these guys don't just rest on legacy status; they actually release consistently great albums (their discography includes classics like *Million Dollar Passport* and *Bullseye*) and continue to deliver live with real energy rather than coasting through the greatest-hits treadmill. MontrΓ©al is a standout stop for me personally since that city has an incredible music scene, and Boston being on there too feels very appropriate given their strong post-rock history in New England as well. If you're anywhere near these cities over the coming months β€” or can plan some travel around it β€” definitely keep your eyes peeled when full tour dates drop; Tortoise live shows are something else entirely.
