The system task scheduler rewrite probably cut hundreds of hours of dev work, and the background task cap raises (+52MB per app) mean your favorite Spotify widget won't get killed by the OS in the middle of a playlist. These are not "glamour features," but they are what make an iPhone feel fast for years instead of months — that is something I will advocate for forever!
And the developer-side wins here are genuinely incredible if you care about app performance at all: Local Authentication 4 unifies FaceID and TouchID into one API, so no more juggling multiple providers in code; passkey support is now native everywhere including Safari Autofill — which makes password management on mobile infinitely better than it was before; plus they added a dedicated Siri App Intents framework. You can't get much happier about the OS maturing this way — fewer gimmicks, more substance, and less garbage background process killing your battery in the middle of the night!
